In Solidarity with Nepal

Fundraisers:
-
Nepal Prime Minister's Relief Fund
-
https://pmdrf.nchl.com.np/
- Highly recommended
- Far and beyond the fundraiser most shared by Nepali people themselves.
- A frequently asked question is whether or not the government fundraiser is reliable, as there is often distrust of government-led initiatives. This is a fair question. What we know is that the Nepali people also want to keep their government accountable and are concerned about transparency and accountability, and still the PM Relief Fund is what they recommend. If we want to center Nepali voices and perspectives, the clear choice is the PM Relief Fund.

Alternative fundraisers
- We share these alternative links so folks can make their own decisions for contributing.
- Pros: can be vetted using websites like CharityNavigator.org
- Cons: we have not seen a single Nepali person or organizations share other fundraisers instead of the Nepal PM Relief Fund.

- Astha contributed her work pro bono for our organizing and fundraising efforts. The cost of the commission was instead donated to the Nepal PM Relief Fund.
- Her two pieces, Children in the Fog and "Wrinkles on my grandma's skin..." were made into postcards to spread awareness and share the Nepal PM Relief Fund link.

Regarding the tea farming community in Nepal:
- The August 26 Rasuwa floods were not in tea producing areas, and so no tea farms were directly impacted by the floods. As of October 2026, all of the tea farmer partners and friends in the tea industry we work with are safe.
- The community however is still in mourning, and climate change continues to be of grave concern for tea farming communities as unstable weather patterns are disruptive for tea growing and tea processing.
- The tea communities of Nepal also by and large recommend the Nepal PM Relief Fund to contribute to.
Thank you for standing with Nepal!
About this page:
- This is a living and changing resource page, made in response to the August 26 Rasuwa floods and updated where possible, as climate disasters and climate injustices will only continue to occur.
- This page is shared from Rie's individual perspective as a tea host with tea relationships in Nepal and a fellow daughter of the Global South. While these are the resources we have used, and we do our due diligence to vet these, this is just from our perspective and we are just sharing what we know. Any good done, we credit to our friends and community, and any errors are ours alone. Solidarity :)
- If you are Nepali, and/or are materially involved with the Nepali community and would like to dialogue with us about this page or share additional resources, please let us know. Thank you! rie@mahika-tea-school.com
